Ladies Who Wine :: Amor Y Tacos

There are times when I am so on top of my restaurant blogging game that I deserve MVP status. MVE status (I’m sure you can figure out what the E stands for – it ain’t elephant). At least among those Long Beach-based food bloggers with an average following of 50. A month. Okay, maybe 100 or so. But I take the job seriously – threatening to slap anyone at the table who dares put fork to their dish before I can snap pictures of it from multiple angles; taking notes on my phone on flavors, service, ambience; studying up on the restaurant of choice beforehand, getting a history on the chef, the staff, the origin of the pig slaughtered for the evening’s carnitas. When it comes to chronicling the fancy mouthwork of my Ladies, I work up a sweat.

For our most recent outing to Amor Y Tacos in Cerritos, however, I dropped the ball. I sat the bench. I didn’t even get in on any special teams play. In other words, I don’t have a well-documented play-by-play of our time together.

There were tacos, I’m certain. And there were margaritas. And really, is there anything more to know than that? While I enjoy waxing on about delicate flavors and new mixings of ingredients and the sumptuousness of certain sweets, all you really want answered is – should I go here? And for Amor Y Tacos, the answer is a definite yes. Yes for their Mango con Chile Margarita. Yes for their Mole Tots. And yes for A&T’s Tinga de Pollo tacos. And since we’re speaking affirmatives, I’ll add a yes for making reservations and/or arriving early – the place gets crowded. Must have a reputation.

It was nice to catch up, with Ladies recently starting new positions, getting knocked up, and getting hitched (not necessarily in that order). Our newest member, Baby Bea, graced us with her presence. And we offered words of advice and good luck to Lady Kristina, guilty of starting a new position, getting knocked up, and getting hitched (not necessarily in that order). There were plenty of tacos and lots of love going ‘round our table.

So off my game, maybe. But definitely a winner with the delight that is Amor Y Tacos in my belly. Much Amor Y Tacos to you.
